Lynne
Bodyweight bench and max pull-ups — five rounds of pure max effort.
The workout (5 Rounds Not For Time)
- 5 rounds, not for time:
- Max-rep Bench Press — 1 × bodyweight
- Max-rep Pull-ups
- Rest as needed between rounds
Estimated time: 20–30 min · score = total reps. Lynne isn't a race — it's five rounds of maximum-effort bench press at bodyweight supersetted with max-rep pull-ups, resting as needed between rounds. Push each set to genuine failure but rest long enough to actually recover, because the score is the sum of all your reps. Rushing here only cuts your numbers.
Standards
- Bench Press loaded to the athlete's bodyweight; bar touches chest and reaches full lockout each rep
- Pull-up: chin over bar, arms fully extended at the bottom (strict or kipping per standard used)
- Score is total reps of bench press plus pull-ups across all 5 rounds
- Rest between and within rounds is unlimited
Scaling
- Use a percentage of bodyweight (e.g. 0.75×) on the bench
- Strict for a stricter test, or kipping pull-ups for volume
- Reduce to 3 rounds if pressing volume is very high
Coaching tips
- Always use a spotter on the bench when pressing to failure.
- Rest fully between rounds — fresh muscles mean more total reps.
- Stop each pull-up set one rep short of a form breakdown to protect the next round.
