Bull
Two monster rounds capped by a mile you'll wish you saved something for.
The workout (2 Rounds For Time)
- 2 rounds for time of:
- 200 Double-unders
- 50 Overhead squats — 61 kg (135 lb) / 43 kg (95 lb)
- 50 Pull-ups
- Run 1 mile
Estimated time: 20–35 min. This is a long, mixed-modal grinder that tests skill under fatigue and then makes you run a mile on empty. The double-unders punish tight shoulders, the overhead squats demand mobility and a stable midline, and the pull-ups pile onto an already-fried grip. Pace the first round so you can actually run the second mile, break the pull-ups and squats early, and stay smooth on the rope rather than tripping your way through 400 total skips.
Standards
- Double-under: rope passes twice per jump
- Overhead squat: hip crease below the knee with the bar locked out overhead, 61/43 kg (135/95 lb)
- Pull-ups: chin over the bar, full extension at the bottom (kipping allowed)
- Total volume: 400 double-unders, 100 overhead squats, 100 pull-ups, 2 miles
Scaling
- Reduce to 100 single-unders or 100 double-unders per round
- Lighten overhead squats to 43/29 kg (95/65 lb) or fewer reps
- Band-assisted pull-ups and an 800 m run per round
Coaching tips
- Break the overhead squats and pull-ups into planned sets from the start to avoid failure.
- Stay relaxed on the rope; big unbroken double-under sets save huge time.
- Hold something back in round one so the second mile is a run, not a walk.
